Think like a Chef
In the age of social media, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed wondering what content to post and how often your company should be updating its fans on its social media channels.
However, what if I told you that if we thought a little bit like chefs in the kitchen, social media planning and execution could be as consistent and stress-free as the smoothest dinner service?
So what is the "recipe for social media success," you ask? Well, for starters, you've got to start thinking like a chef.
Have a Plan. "Yes, Chef!"
From time-to-time we will all get lucky by whipping up a delicious meal made on the fly from pantry items at home.
However, we all know these heroic kitchen accomplishments are generally few and far between.
That's why, like a good social media manager, chefs plan ahead:
A social media wizard, like a good chef, will always plan ahead for optimal success.
And that's a piece of the recipe that's not to be overlooked.
Keep it Fresh
A good chef knows that fresh ingredients are best served up... well, fresh. The same goes for content. As a piece of content gets shared more frequently throughout the internet, its barrier for even more sharing lowers--enabling a far greater reach than stale content that is not being shared. That's why another significant ingredient in the recipe for social media success is keeping things fresh.

Using tools like Google Alerts or Buzzsumo to keep up-to-date on the latest news in your industry will help your company stay ahead of the curve by being able to find and share industry-relevant stories well before they start trending.
(Pro Tip) We've been saying it all along: follow the big dogs' lead. The best companies out there have already dialed in on which content is most likely to be "fresh," to be shared, and best for their audiences.
Just like the best chefs are always keeping tabs on each other's latest techniques and dishes, social media managers should act similarly. You can become the best by learning from the best.
Now It's All About Execution
You've got the ingredients, the menu has been planned, the pans are oiled, the stoves and ovens are on, let's do this thing! You're ready to rock it--it's time to execute.
You've come this far, don't be afraid of a little heat--the best chefs use blazing heat to create beautiful sears to lock in all the flavor and prevent juicy goodness from escaping when customers dive in.
You should think similarly while executing your social media strategy: How will you ensure no valuable juices (brand awareness/loyalty, conversions, and sales) are lost during your process?
Making sure everything is well-seared and well-executed will keep people coming back for more... Just ask the restaurants we like to frequent.
Keep things hot, and keep them fresh, and you'll see results--both in the kitchen and on the web. But most of all, you've got to think like a chef. And that's the recipe for social media success.
